Consumer Protection Survey - Summer 2017
Like most Albertans, when you make a purchase you often won’t think twice about it. But sometimes the experience isn’t very good, and you may be concerned about whether you’ve made the right decision, or even feel ripped off.
Businesses sometimes have their concerns too, primarily about competing with those that do not obey marketplace rules and standards.
Whether you are a consumer or a business owner, you want to be confident the government will use laws, education, inspections and investigations to ensure a fair marketplace.
In Alberta, consumers and businesses are protected by the Fair Trading Act. This law covers buying and selling of household goods and services such as car repairs, concert tickets, gift cards, or contractors.
So, we’d like to know what issues are most important in protecting you as a consumer, and ensuring a fair marketplace as a seller.
This survey can take about 15 to 20 minutes. Your input will be kept anonymous and your answers will help us inform changes today, and in the future.
